Super league in Football Manager: what do you think ?

Dear readers of Football Manager Guru this post is dedicated to the global football topic of the day i.e. the new Superleague project created by some of the richest and most famous European clubs in the world. In this article as big fans of the FM game, we wondered if the Superleague will be present in Football Manager 2022 and if so, how it will change the fortunes of our hard-earned managerial careers.

The Super League Project

The news exploded last night and like a thunderbolt, from the first hours after the official announcement issued by “The Super League,” reactions rained down copiously.

Below we will go on to explain what the Super League wanted by the soccer powerhouses consists of, what it consists of and how it will be structured. Finally we will try to understand if it will be taken into consideration by Sports Interactive, the software house that has been producing and marketing our beloved Football Manager for years.

Super league Format

The Super League is a new European competition among 20 clubs that include 15 founding clubs and 5 annual qualifiers. There will be two Groups consisting of 10 teams each, playing both home and away games. By bringing together the best clubs and players in the world, the Super League will be able to offer excitement and involvement never before seen in soccer.

Clubs involved in the Superleague

After the Group Stage, 8 teams will qualify for a knockout tournament, playing home and away games until the Super League dry-run final, in a throbbing four-week season finale. The teams that have already joined The Super League project are:

Italy:

  • Juventus
  • Milan
  • Inter

Spain:

  • Real Madrid
  • Atletico Madrid
  • Barcellona

England:

  • Arsenal
  • Chelsea
  • Liverpool
  • Manchester City
  • Manchester United
  • Tottenham

When the Super league games will be played.

Matches will be played midweek, and all clubs will continue to play in their national leagues.

How much money is allocated to Super league clubs

Solidarity contributions will grow in line with league revenues and are expected to exceed 10 billion euros during the course of the clubs’ initial commitment period. These solidarity contributions will follow a new model of regular public reporting in full transparency.

Super league in Football Manager: what do you think ?

The official press release was issued last night and for that reason the news is hectic at the moment. Nothing definite has been decided since the interests at stake are countless and so many problems will have to be solved with:

  1. Uefa
  2. Fifa
  3. National Leagues
  4. Fans
  5. Football players

Among the various problems, we found an additional one that concerns all video game fans.

How will Football Manager 2022 change should the European Super League project actually take hold and become operational from next August 21, 2021?

  • Football Manager how will the game be organized?
  • Will the Champions League and Europa League still be present with the birth of the Super League of the Rich and Famous?
  • How will the player transfer market and the relationship with prosecutors, definitely changed in the new features of Football Manager 2021 that we told you about a few months ago, be organized?
  • How will Fifa tournaments such as World Championship and European Championship, Copa America etc be organized without the presence of the best players in the world such as Neymar, Mbappe, Messi etc etc ?
  • These are just some of the many questions we would like to ask the people in charge of Sports Interactive if the entry of the Superleague project into Football Manager is on the horizon.

What do you think about that?
