Sports Interactive has sold 33.3 million soccer manager games to date
British developer of Football Manager, the renowned brand Sports Interactive said it has sold more than 33.3 million soccer manager games to date through the various games released over the years.
In a Twitter post, studio head Miles Jacobson OBE announced the milestone with an image of a gold disc “to recognize 33 1/3 million sales of soccer manager games made by Sports Interactive” and thanked staff “both old and new” for their work.
The award sounds as if it is not only about the sales of the developer’s long-running Football Manager series, which debuted in 2004, but also its predecessor Championship Manager, which ran between 1992 and 2003.
“What a milestone to achieve,” Jacobson wrote.
“Congratulations to the entire Sports Interactive team both old and new.”
Recent entries in the series have sold for many millions. Football Manager 19 moved two million copies in its first eight months on the market, in part due to the game’s launch in Germany for the first time. We caught up with Jacobson to discuss the success of this iteration of the franchise.
Earlier this month, Sports Interactive introduced ads for the Football v Homophobia campaign in Football Manager 2021, after the developer offered free marketing slots for mental health charities in early 2020.
